Hurry up and wait

I was sent an email this morning from the Olympic Committee.  They asked that I send them my flight information so they can have the appropriate people meet me at the airport and escort me to the Olympic Village.
I immediately wrote them back and said that, since I haven't purchased my ticket yet, I don't have that information, but I'm planning on buying it this in November, so I will get it to them as soon as possible.  They sent me back an automated response in Russian.  Once I translated it, the response read "Good question...we'll get back to you as soon as we can with an answer."  So, now I wait until my funding comes in so I can buy my ticket.  I hate waiting.

Please don't forget to visit http://www.gofundme.com/4jonjc and donate to help me raise the money to get there!  Anything you can give, no matter how big or small, is greatly appreciated, and will help tremendously.  Thank you all!

And now, the waiting game

I have sent in lots of information to them, but have to wait until they get to my turn before I can be processed for training.  There are 25,000 volunteers, so odds are, it's going to take a while.
This is the part that is the roughest...not hearing anything for weeks at a time.  I know I've been accepted into the program, but still, I can't help but wait for communication from them with nervous anticipation.
During my wait, I have looked up some information on Sochi, Russia.  The weather in late January/early Feb is similar to how it is here in Orlando, FL.  About 50 for a daytime high and average of about 35 for a nighttime low.  This means they will have to make snow constantly for the events, because it is not cold enough for natural snow.  During the summers, Sochi is a resort city on the Black Sea, just across from Istanbul, Turkey.
Don't forget to go to www.gofundme.com/4jonjc to follow my donation progress, and of course, do a little donating yourself.  Once again, anything you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Information dump

Today, I sent in my measurements for the uniforms.  There were a lot of measurements that they needed, so I guess they are going to custom make my outfits.  Also, they asked me to update my photo, which I did, and they gave me the dates for my trip.  I will be there from Jan 16, 2014 to Feb 24, 2014.  That's going to be quite a time to be in Russia.  I'm so excited, I can't wait.

I have set up a donation website to start trying to raise money for my trip.  The address is http://olympicblog2014.blogspot.com.  Remember: donate early, donate often.  I really appreciate anything you can throw my way to help me get there.

The Adventure Begins 9/28/2013

I found out within the last few days that I was accepted as a volunteer for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.  They also sent me an Excel Spreadsheet with all the measurements they need from me in order to provide my uniforms for the games.
I need to get myself measured and start providing them with the information that they need.
Also, today I set up my donation site on www.gofundme.com to raise money for this trip.  It is going to be a bit expensive to get from Florida to Russia, but after that, costs should be minimal.

Until I get everything ready, I suppose that's all for now.  I need to get busy getting them what they need.
